AntiBullyingReads read-a-thon was an idea thought by Sarah (over at her youtube channel: Sarah Churchill) in which you read books that touch on the topic of bullying. It can be about bulliny or have a character in it that is bullied. The goal of this is to bring awareness to bullying by using #AntiBullingRead and of course to learn more about the topic and sympathise and empathise.

It takes place on the 16th of November to the 22nd. If you’re interested join the Goodreads group. It’s the base camp.

There are also going to be giveaways! Thats always fun 🙂

I unfortunately won’t be taking part in this read-a-thon. I just finished my small collection of books that concern bullying a coulpe of days ago. If I knew this read-a-thon was coming up I would’ve waited to read them 😦
Or hopefully I’ll pick up more books before the read-a-thon.

But I will help to spread awareness. If you can’t participate in this read-a-thon please help spread the word!
This is a serious topic and more people need to know how serious it is. It would be a lot of help.

Above is the read-a-thon annoucement. I really would appreciate book recommendations on this topic. So please, if you have any let me know in the comments below. 🙂

Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon

Okay guys, it’s official. I just signed up for Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon!
Basically, its a reading sprint where you try to read as much as you can for 24 hours. It starts on the 17th of October. We would usually just start when it’s the 17th on your side of the world. So when it hits 12:00 AM you can start reading. But this time we’re all starting at the same time. So if you’re interested in the read-a-thon find out you start time here.

I liked it better before, when it was start when its the 17th where you are. I think that was easier for people instead of having to check time zones.

I just started reading Gone Girl and I’m pretty sure I’ll still be reading it for the read-a-thon, or maybe I’ll put that on puase or switch it up with another book. I’m not planning to update my reading progress here; that would be done on my Twitter @TattooedPages

Are you going to participate in the read-a-thon?

Hey guys!

Booktube-A-Thon is here! Booktube-a-thon is a widely known read-a-thon runned by a group of booktubers (youtubers who talk about books). Their is a channel dedicated to this: BookTubeATon. Subscribe to the channel for updates and their other platforms like twitter and instagram. A whole bunch of people participate in this week long read-a-thon. Unfortunately I’m 90% sure I won’t be able to participate in this read-a-thon because I’m super busy with packing up my things to move. Which sucks becasue I ws really looking forward to participating in the read-a-thon. Hopefully you guys will have more reading time on your hands than I do though 🙂

This read-a-thon takes place from the 3rd of August to the 9th .

There are 7 challenges for this read-a-thon:

1. Read a book with blue on the cover
2. Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name
3. Read someone else’s favourite book
4.  Read the last book you acquired
5.  Finish a book without letting go of it
6.  Read a book you really want to read
7.  Read seven books

Book Depository is also offering a discout on 100 books for the read-a-thon!

Let me know if you’re participating in the read-a-thon. I’d love to know your TBR.

Happy reading!

Read-a-Thon from the 8th – 14th of June

Super quick post here!

Through a video on YouTube I found out that there’s going to be a read-a-thon called Topic-A-Thon hosted over at the Between Lines and Life blog.

So basically in this read-a-thon you pick books to read that are the same theme, or in the same “topic”.

For example

you can only read red cover books

you can only reread books

you can only read from a specific genre

you can only read books that have aliens riding unicorns…

whatever you want! Just stick to that topic.

in the video I saw, the Booktuber (Mercy) is only reading books by debut female authors

I would really like to reread books this year but I’m not sure now is the time. I might not participate in this read-a-thon.

The read-a-thon also takes place in September and December so maybe then.

So are you interested? What are some Read-a-thons you’re participating in this year?

Bout of Books Day 4 challenge

THE CHALLENGE Share one book that you believe will be considered a classic in 100 years time. Simple? I do have a few caveats, the book must have been published in or after 2005 and you need to provide two reasons for why this book will be a classic.

This is an interesting challenge. One book immediately popped into mind: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

this is just destined to be a classic. Why?

  • It is written so beautifully
  • It is an interesting view of a horrible time in history. It gives the reader a unique and new perspective on the history that all of us are familiar with one way or another.

What about you guys? Even if you’re not doing the Bout og Books read-a-thon I’m interested to know what book you think will be a classic for future generations.

Bout of Books 13.0 Day 3 Challenge: Haiku

I had more fun with this challenge than I thought I would!

For this challenge we were instructed to: “Write a haiku about whatever book you’re reading right now.”

I’m reading All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and I’m absolutley loving it so far! So I ended up writing four haiku and tweeting them. I thought I’d share them here too:

Bout of Books 13 Challenge #1: Bookish Survey

This is today’s challenge for the Bout of Books 13.0 Read-A-Thon. Check out my initial post here.

1. How do you organize your shelves?

By genre. All the fantasies in one place, all the contemporaries in another and so on.

2. What is one of your favorite book that’s not in one of your favorite genres?

This is actually hard for me. I’m not picky about the genres I like to read and my favorite genre is fantasy so that means I have to pick one book from all the other genres. Well I guess I’ll go with the memoir genre. I love a good memoir every now and then but I’m very picky about the memoirs I read. I’m going with A Boy Called It by Dave Pelzer. That book is haunting; I read it years ago and I still think about it. It deals with the child abuse Dave’s mother put him through.

3. What is the last 5 star book you read?

Looking for Alaska by John Green

4. What book are you most excited to read during the read-a-thon?

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

5. What book do you recommend the most?

This is another difficult one for me. I don’t just tell anybody they should read a book just because I enjoyed it; I take in account what genres or writing styles they like. But lately I’ve been recommending The Book Thief to my sister.

Joining the Bout of Books 13.0 Read-A-Thon!

So as you can probably tell by the title, I’m joining the Bout of Books Read-A-Thon!!

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 11th and runs through Sunday, May 17th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 13 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

I knew about this Read-A-Thon in advance but didn’t have any plans  to join it. Then I read a blog post today by Amanda @Amanda’s Book Nook , a short post of how she was joining that lead me to checking out the Bout of Books blog where I read more about the Read-A-Thon. The more I read the more excited I became! I’ve only ever joined one Read-A-Thon before (Cram-A-Thon) and it was so fun! So I decided “Why the heck not”.

  • Read 70-100 pages in a day
  • Finish what I’m currently reading (Throne of Glass)
  • Review as I finish a book
  • Comment on a handful (5) of participating blogs a day
  • Be active with Twitter updates (#boutofbooks)
  • Participate in Twitter chats
  • Read at least 2 novels

  • Throne of Glass
  • All the Bright Places
  • Fahrenheit 451

Those are the books I plan on reading (this is not a strict TBR so I might change the books if I don’t feel like reading them). I would also like to read a couple of comics/graphic novels in between. Something fast and light to read. I haven’t decided what but here are my options:

  • Smile
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us (volume 1)
  • Captain America: Living Legend

instead of making individual posts I’ll update this one through the Read-A-Thon. (I might do a different post if I decide to participate in the challenges)
